What is LAN & WLAN?

A Local Area Network (LAN) is a private network connecting devices in a single location, using Ethernet cabling and switches. It lets devices communicate, share files and access centralised resources.

A Wireless LAN (WLAN) is a type of LAN that uses wireless access points to allow devices like laptops, smartphones and tablets to connect without physical cables. It offers mobility, flexibility and simplified infrastructure while maintaining the reliability of the wired network.

Together LAN and WLAN provide enterprise-grade security and coverage, ensuring reliable performance for voice, video and data across an estate.
