What is a Leased Line?
A leased line is a private fibre connection dedicated to your business. Unlike broadband, it’s not shared with anyone else, meaning your bandwidth is guaranteed, even at peak times.
With speeds up to 10Gb/s and symmetrical upload and download, leased lines handle large files, cloud-based apps and high-quality video, effortlessly. Perfect for the most data-hungry businesses, it’s connectivity that’s dedicated, predictable and built to power your growth – whether that’s internet access, SD-WAN or a private network.

Frequently Asked Questions: Leased Lines
A Dedicated Leased Line is the ultimate internet connection. With a fibre optic line direct to your business premises, you can benefit from a connection that’s exclusively yours, unlike Fibre and Broadband connections which use a shared network. A Dedicated Leased Line is often referred to as a Leased Line, a Dedicated Line, Ethernet or DIA (Direct Internet Access), but they all refer to an internet line that cuts out the cabinet and connects directly to your business premise.
There are a number of different leased line options that exist, and we supply EoFTTC (Ethernet over Fibre to the Cabinet) and DIA (Dedicated Internet Access). All our Dedicated Leased Lines are available in a range of different speeds: 100Mb/s, 1Gb/s and our fastest option, 10Gb/s. These speeds are for both uploads and downloads.
Whether you have one employee or a hundred, it’s all about whether your current connectivity is providing the speeds and consistency you need to support your operations and growth. In an increasingly digitally focused world, more and more businesses rely on robust, reliable connectivity in every area of operations. For businesses using multiple devices connected to the internet or offering guest Wi-Fi, a leased line provides a consistent connection for all users and devices. No matter your industry, a business leased line is ideal for any operation with bandwidth-intensive online requirements including: - __E-commerce/online markets__ – the speed you need to process transactions, transfer large amounts of data and create great customer experiences - __Hybrid working__ – rapid upload and download and rock-solid reliability enables seamless communication and collaboration for your people - __Backup/Disaster recovery__ – in the event of an emergency, a leased line gives you the security and speed to make sure your critical data is backed up and accessible, fast - __Cloud-based services__ – cloud services are becoming increasingly essential to every business. Harness their power with a high-bandwidth leased line
Traditional broadband – such as [Business Broadband](https://www.talktalk.business/connectivity/fibre-broadband) or [Business Fibre](https://www.talktalk.business/connectivity/fibre-broadband) – is a contended connection shared by multiple organisations. As bandwidth is shared between neighbouring businesses, during busy periods you may experience slowdown to your connection. A leased line is an uncontended connection, reserved exclusively for your business. With a private fibre optic connection straight to your premises, your business can benefit from a high-quality internet connection and guaranteed upload and download speeds at all times.
TalkTalk Business have a range of leased line packages to support the needs of any business. Prices start from as little as £90 per month (ex VAT. 36-month term.) for our EoFTTC 20 Mb packages. Our expert team would be happy to help you choose the best option to suit the unique requirements of your business. To start a conversation, call us on 01763448166 or book a callback at a time that suits.
We offer a range of leased line compatible routers for all speeds, right up to 10Gb/s. But if you prefer, you can choose to take the Dedicated Leased Line connection from us and provide your own router.
With a choice of speeds from 10Mbps to 10Gbps and unlimited usage, our Dedicated Leased Lines deliver the scalability you need to stay ahead of the curve as your requirements evolve. And you only pay for what you need. Our extensive network offers many advantages. It lowers access costs because of the close proximity of exchanges to your sites, while our multi-use network offers great potential for operational savings too.
